Meaghan White + Litehouse

This home, designed by Meaghan White and meticulously constructed by Litehouse, with it's small footprint and its graceful character, shows just what can be achieved with exceptional design and a smaller footprint.

The north facing elevation, almost completely glazed and carefully overshadowed by the roof line which arches down and anchored from the rear of the house, tapers its way up towards the sky.

With each room seamlessly connected to the north facing yard, each space feels exponentially larger, this coupled with the functionality of each of the rooms creates an illusion of larger spaces without the need for large rooms.

The vibrant light fills the void of the double height spaces which is accentuated by the crisp white walls, off-form concrete features and polished concrete floors, only contrasted by the natural Western red cedar and blue shades of mosaic murals.

The welcoming gesture provided to street via the generous servery window from the kitchen out to the front of the house provides a thoughtful connection to the surrounding neighbourhood. All the while a day bed perched above from the main bedroom looks out across the street and greater Cottesloe.

Just like the cedar that gently wraps itself around the home, this house will age timelessly into the street.
